A 21-year-old Winfield man was injured Thursday when the pickup truck he was driving collided with a utility pole and tree.
Spencer Warren was transported to a Wichita hospital for treatment of his injuries, according to information available from the scene. He was in critical condition immediately following the accident but eventually stabilized, according to those who know him.
Just after 5 p.m., Cowley County Sheriff’s deputies and emergency medical crews were called to report of a vehicle striking a tree.
The accident occurred on S. Pike Rd. in south Winfield not far from Quail Ridge Golf Course. Warren, according to the sheriff’s dept., was northbound on Pike when a tire on the truck blew out and he went into a ditch. He struck a utility pole and a tree.
Warren was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Warren is a son of interim Winfield Fire Chief Vince Warren.
