Human Remains Found in Cowley County Field This Morning

The Cowley County Sheriff’s Dept. has recovered human remains in the southern portion of the county and is working to identify them.

This morning, around 10, the sheriff’s dept. was dispatched to the 7000 block of 312th Rd. for the report that remains had been found. A name and cause of death are not known at this time and an autopsy has been scheduled for Monday at the Sedgwick County Regional Forensic Science Center in Wichita.

Someone was checking cattle and found the remains in a field, Sheriff David Falletti said.

The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas City Police Department.

No other information is known at this time.
