A 78-year-old Ark City woman has died as a result of injuries she sustained from being struck by a car Friday afternoon. Her name is not being released as this time pending notification of family.

Police and the Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department were dispatched at 5:08 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Fourth Street and Maple Avenue for the report of a traffic accident involving a pedestrian.

Both the pedestrian and the vehicle were eastbound on Maple Avenue from Fourth Street.

The 21-year-old driver did not sustain injuries in the accident and declined treatment at the scene. Police did not release the driver’s name.
The investigation into this accident is ongoing. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call ACPD Sgt. Eric Mata at the Arkansas City Police Department at (620) 441-4444.
