City To Consider Project to Repaint Pool at Winfield Aquatic Center

It’s time for a paint job for the pool at the Winfield Aquatic Center.

City commissioners, at their work session this week, will discuss approving a bid for $108,026 to have the pool repainted. The pool was last fully repainted in 2008.

In recent years, staff have done patch painting, according to a memo to commissioners. It is time now, though, to have the pool stripped and completely repainted. The pool was constructed in 1998.

The stripping and repainting should help extend the life of the pool.

The city’s pool consultant recommended the work be done by Wichita-based DEM Enterprises. City officials did check references for the company and said DEM comes highly recommended.

No additional bids have been sought for this project. Money has been set aside in the Special Equipment Fund and Special Parks and Recreation fund to pay for the project.

The work session is set for 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the community council room at city hall in Winfield.
