Winfield Woman Dies in Western Kansas Crash This Week

Two people – including a 27-year-old Winfield woman – were killed this week when the pickup truck they were in collided with a Freightliner Semi in western Kansas, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Ashiona J. Hollingsworth was critically injured in the early-morning crash Tuesday and transported to Western Plains Medical Complex in Dodge City. She later died.

Hollingsworth was a passenger in a 2016 Ford F-150 driven by 34-year-old Andrew L. Manning of Wichita. Manning was also killed.

The Manning vehicle was westbound in the eastbound lane of U.S. 54 highway about eight miles northeast of Minneola in Ford County, when the accident occurred. The truck collided head on with the eastbound semi.

Both vehicles came to rest on the south shoulder of the highway. The crash happened around 6:20 a.m.

The semi driver was identified as 72-year-old James J. Kopp of Minnesota. He was injured.
58-year-old Tommy L. Wilkie, also of Minnesota, was a passenger in the semi. He sustained minor injuries.

All involved, except for Wilkie, were wearing safety restraints.
