Ark City Police Arrest Man Accused of Threatening Pair With a Bat

The Arkansas City Police Department arrested a local man last Tuesday night after he allegedly attempted to hit two people with a baseball bat.

Jason Don Porter, 47, was arrested on suspicion of two counts of felony aggravated assault. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Porter remained in jail Monday.

Officers responded at 9:13 p.m. Sept. 12 to a disturbance in the 1600 block of North Sixth Street.
During their investigation, the two victims — a 17-year-old female and a 20-year-old male — reported that Porter had tried to strike them with the bat. Porter was contacted and subsequently arrested.

The female victim is related to Porter and the male victim is known to the suspect.

No injuries occurred during this incident.
