Ark City High School Moves to 4A Sports Classification

Ark City has been moved to 4A for sports and activities, according to new classifications released this week by the Kansas State High School Activities Association. The school district had been in the 5A classification for several years.

Enrollment numbers show Ark City has 596 students and will be one of the larger schools in the 4A classification. Winfield remains 4A with 513 students.

The enrollment figures were current for each school as of Sept. 20 and impact championship play in winter and spring sports.

The KSHSAA has 354 member schools.
