Vince Warren Named New Fire Chief For Winfield

Vince Warren has been named as the new fire and ems chief for the city of Winfield. He will be sworn in Monday.

Warren had been serving in that position on an interim basis, following the retirement of Alan Stoll. Previously, Warren had served as the city’s fire marshal.

City manager Jeremy Willmoth made the announcement Friday and said twelve people applied for the position. After the applicants were ranked, a committee interviewed six finalists.

“Vince’s commitment and enthusiasm to public service, leadership skills and vision for the
Department is a great asset to our mission of providing excellent fire and medical services to our community,” Willmoth said in a prepared statement.

Warren has nineteen years in fire service, with fifteen years being with the city of Winfield. He began as a Firefighter/EMT and has been promoted during his tenure to be an Engineer and a Lieutenant before earning his current position as Fire Marshal.

In addition to being Fire Marshal for the City of Winfield, he is a member of Task Force 5; the Haz-Mat Response Team for the State of Kansas; the Arson Strike Force for South Central Kansas; is a Fire Investigator II with the Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Offices; and, is a member of the Kansas Chapter of International Association of Arson Investigators.
