Cowley County Sheriff’s investigators have possession of a car left behind by a driver and occupants who fled from authorities late Thursday.
Around 9:15 p.m., the driver of the 2007 black Dodge Charger – which has red stripes on the side – attempted to flee or elude law enforcement in the 1300 block of N. 13th in Ark City. Those inside the vehicle left the scene on foot.
Ark City police then began receiving reports of people in the area jumping fences. Police and sheriff’s deputies checked the area, however, no arrests were made, according to a report.
A search of the Charger was conducted and inventory of its contents completed. Items included a clear plastic bag with marijuana inside of it.
Bruton’s Towing and Salvage towed the vehicle and will hold it until the driver is identified.
