Unofficial Election Results Are In For Cowley County Races

Just under 16 percent of registered voters turned out for city and school elections held Tuesday in Cowley County.

Unofficial totals posted by the county election office show 3,058 of the county’s 19,200 registered voters cast a ballot in this election.

Results in some of the area’s competitive races are as follows.

Incumbents Ned Graham, Bob Juden and Brian Sanderholm have won reelection to the Cowley College Board of Trustees.

Sanderholm led the way with 1,955 votes or 21 percent, Juden secured 1,659 votes and Graham received 1,510. Former Cowley County Commissioner Gary Wilson received 1,261 votes.

That vote total was enough for Wilson to join the board of trustees. He finished just ahead of Michael Bergagnini, 1,074 votes, for the fourth and final open position. Darrin Green received 850 votes and Jonathan R. Hansen received 768.

Glennis Zimmerman received 1,555 votes and easily won the newly-created Sumner County seat on the college board of trustees. M. Kay Ryan was second with 794. Only voters in Sumner County voted in that race.

Phil Jarvis was the top vote-getter in the race for Winfield City Commission. He received 700 votes. Ron Hutto received 662 votes to earn reelection. Two seats were open.

Pamela Moore finished with 451 votes.

Jay W. Warren has won reelection to the city commission in Ark City. Warren received 687 votes to the lead the way. Karen Welch was second with 566 votes and Kanyon Gingher was third with 432. The top three vote getters earned a seat on the commission.

Mi’lissa Robb finished with 273 votes, Richard Humphrey had 188 and Tim Perry had 182.

USD 465 (top three elected): Craig P. Thompson, 1,026 votes; Julie St. Peter, 945; Ed Loeb, 646 and Michael Rozell, 353.

USD 470 (top three elected): Rhoda MacLaughlin-Ramirez, 926 votes; Lance Niles, 717; Lori Barnes, 634; Damon Mendoza, 556; Tyler Yung, 487; and Kate Reilly 210.

Burden City Council (top three elected): Chris Cannon, 68 votes; Alisha Miller, 56; Carleta Bolack, 46; and Richard McCain 36.

USD 463 Position 6 (top vote getter elected): Megan Clasen, 82 votes; MIchelle Mosqueda, 24; and 75 write-ins.

USD 462 Position 3 unexpired term (top vote getter): Mandy S. Cannon, 106 votes; and T.J. Prater, 66.
