Driver Strikes Parked Vehicles, Drives Through Fence At Strother Field

A person was injured this evening when the pickup truck they were driving collided with parked vehicles and ran through a fence at Strother Field.

Sometime around 5 p.m., a driver and their vehicle left the roadway just west of C street and went through the parking lot of Twin Rivers Developmental Supports, according to Cowley County Sheriff Dave Falletti.

The truck struck two parked vehicles and moved one out onto the roadway. A utility pole was broken in the process.

The driver continued eastbound through a field and struck a fence before coming to rest in a culvert.

The driver’s name has not been made public, so far. That person was hospitalized.

It’s not clear why the truck left the roadway and investigators were seeking to determine if perhaps the driver suffered a medical episode.

More information will be released Tuesday.
