January 19

Motorist assist in the 29000 block of US 166

A black 2011, Ford passenger car, driven by 21 year-old Winfield resident Tavener McClung was traveling west in the 12000 block of 182nd Road. A gray 2004, Lexus, driven by 71 year-old Winfield resident, Ruth Nelson was traveling north and failed to yield the right of way to McClung. Neither party reported any injuries and both vehicle were towed from the scene.

Request to speak with a deputy in reference to getting property back from their spouse in the 8000 block of 332nd Road

Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the report of shots being fired from a vehicle in the 2000 block of US 77.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies checked on a vehicle in the 14000 block of US 166 HWY.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 23000 block of US 77 for a report of a Gray SUV swerving on the road. The vehicle was followed into Arkansas City and no infractions were observed.

January 20

Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 200 block of Blankenship in Udall for a report of a someone trying to get into their apartment.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 3000 block of 42nd Rd for an open 911 call. Unable to make contact with anyone. Believe the call to 911 was from moisture on the lines.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy stopped a vehicle in the 25000 block of US 77 HWY for no headlight. The driver became aware he had lost the decal on his tag during the stop and made a report for lost/stolen decal.

Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the 10000 block of 284th Road for an animal comlaint. The reporting person told the deputy that a neigbor’s dog had killed livestock in the area before.

Car versus deer motor vehicle accident in the 25000 block of US 160

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 31000 block of 31st Rd to check on a vehicle. Owner said it broke down and would have it moved before midnight.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy witnessed a male exit a silver 2018 Nissan Versa in the 400 block of Bliss St. Winfield and kick a dent in the passenger door. The female driver stated she hit the male in the face before he got out. Brooke Pelkey was arrested for domestic battery. Virgil Huckabey was arrested for criminal damage to property. Virgil also had an Arkansas City Municipal warrant.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 1000 block of K55 HWY for a theft report.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy checked on a vehicle in the 8000 block of US 77 HWY.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy checked on a semi near the round-about, Arkansas City.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy arrested James Holcomb in the 800 block of Manning, Winfield on a warrant.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the area of 20000 US 77 HWY for a report of a man walking southbound with a backpack. He was unable to be located.

January 21

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 17000 block of 65th Rd for harassment. Female stated she thought her ex was doing donuts in front of her house after she received a unknown phone call. Her ex was spoken to and denied being in the area.

Sheriff Deputy took a report of stolen fishing poles and a dirt bike in the 28000 block of 131st Road

Reckless driver reported in the 24000 block of US 160

Cattle reported out in the 4000 block of US 77. Sheriff’s Deputy responded and did not locate them

Sheriff’s Deputy was dispatched to the 29000 block of 97th Road in reference to a neighbor shooting shotguns and the pellets were striking their house. Deputy met with both parties and no report was filed.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 1000 block of US 160 HWY for a truck in the ditch with a flat. The driver ended up needing a tow due to not having the tools to remove the spare. B & L truck and auto arrived to assist.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the 6000 block of Sunset Dr. for a report of a goat out.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy transported an inmate from the Cowley County Jail to William Newton Hospital for chest pains.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to Udall to assist 202 with locating dark passenger car that allegedly threw gasoline covered Frisbee at a boy in a yard.

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to #7 Lakewynds Dr. to speak with subject about neighbors burning piles of leaves around his property.
