UPDATE: Authorities Identify Man Killed While Working On A Pickup Truck

UPDATE, Wednesday 8:40 a.m., – The Cowley County sheriff’s dept. has identified the man killed as 35-year-old Timothy James “T.J.” Prater.

He died, according to a report, when his pickup rolled over him while he was attempting to inspect a broken shift linkage.

Prater was an owner of Palace Barber Shop in Winfield.

A man was killed Tuesday evening in rural Cowley County when a truck he was working on fell and landed on him.

Around 8 p.m., emergency crews and the sheriff’s dept. were called to the 24000 block of 152 Rd. for the report of an accident involving a vehicle. It occurred at a residence about 15 miles east of Winfield.

The victim’s name has not been made public and he was said to be in his mid 30s. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to sheriff’s Sgt. Alice Waldrop.
