Masonic Lodge Plans Cornerstone Dedication In Winfield Next Month

A dedication ceremony is set for next month in Winfield as part of a cornerstone placement project organized and funded by the Winfield Masonic Lodge.

A cornerstone is being set at the Cowley County Courthouse in Winfield. The event includes a procession and Masonic Consecration.

The procession and setting is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. to noon April 7. A group will walk a few blocks to the courthouse and jail for the setting and dedication.

The event is open to the public. Kansas has not had a Masonic cornerstone setting ceremony in more than nine years, local officials said.

Current sheriff David Falletti and former sheriffs Bob Odell and Don Read are among honored guests expected to attend. Roughly 100 Masons are also expected.

The event is hosted by Winfield Masonic Lodge No. 110.

A rain-out date for the event is April 14.
