Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 51st Road and 92nd Road for a vehicle versus train accident. A black 1994, Toyota truck, driven by 46 year old Sonphet Bounvongxay of Winfield was traveling west in the 5000 block of 92nd Road. Sonphet failed to yield the right of way to the train and was struck. Sonphet and the other occupant in his vehicle, 63 year-old Thanongsak Keolakhonevong were transported for unknown injuries.
A Beige 1992, Buick passenger vehicle, driven by 39 year-old Winfield resident, Melissa Washington was traveling north on US 77 stopping to turn west onto 122nd Road. Washington’s vehicle was struck from the rear by a gray 2007, Chevrolet Impala driven by 54 year-old Hutchinson, Kansas resident, Melody Dean.
