Two Vehicles Strike Same Cow In Separate Accidents On Tuesday

Two run-ins with Cowley County traffic Tuesday night weren’t enough to faze a local cow. The animal was sent back to its pasture after the collisions.

Around 9 p.m., the sheriff’s dept. was sent to the report of a minor injury accident in the 14000 block of U.S. 160 highway, east of Winfield. A 2012 Ford Fusion struck a cow in the roadway.

Just over an hour later, while the original investigation continued, the cow wandered back onto the roadway before the owner could be located. Kelsey McAlister, who was driving a 2005 Chevy Silverado, struck the same animal.

The owner of the cow was located and placed the animal back in the pasture.

No serious injuries were reported.

One of the vehicles was totaled.
