ACPD Cases: Man Arrested For Battery On Officer; Accident Leads To DUI Arrest

The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Arkansas City male Monday on suspicion of battery and interference charges after he resisted arrest.

Randy Modou, 36, was arrested on suspicion of battery of a law enforcement officer, as well as one misdemeanor count each of battery-domestic violence and interference with law enforcement.

He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $5,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Modou remained in custody as of Tuesday.

Officers responded about 3:49 p.m. Monday to the River Pointe apartment complex, located at 300 E. Windsor Road, for a report of a physical disturbance.

When they arrived, they learned the male suspect had left the scene and could not be located.

An Arkansas City female had been battered by the suspect and sustained possible injuries.

A short time later, officers received a second report of the suspect hiding in the area. Modou was located in a nearby field, where he was given verbal commands to surrender to police custody.
Instead, he allegedly disregarded the commands and immediately engaged an officer in a physical altercation. Modou eventually was subdued by the officer and taken into custody.
