Reports: Winfield Woman Arrested Twice In Four-Day Time Period

A local woman was arrested for DUI in Winfield Friday night while out on bond for leaving the scene of an accident earlier that same week.

59-year-old Jane Kaufman, of Winfield, was booked into the Cowley County Jail with bond set at $5,300. She posted bond and was released around 10:30 a.m. Monday.

At approximately 9:50 p.m. Friday, a Cowley County deputy responded to the 1000 block of U.S. 160 highway for the report of an intoxicated driver. The Kansas Highway Patrol conducted testing during a traffic stop and placed Kaufman under arrest for DUI.

On that Tuesday, June 19, Kaufman had been arrested for failure to report an accident and leaving the scene. She was involved in a hit-and-run motor vehicle accident in the 500 block of E. Ninth, according to a report from the Winfield Police Dept.

Kaufman posted $1,500 bond for that incident and was released.
