Authorities Name Man And Woman Found Dead On Rural Road In Sumner Co.

UPDATE: The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office have named the people whose bodies were discovered Saturday.

Toby Farley, a 36-year-old from Wellington and Carrie Ensminger, a 27 year old from Emporia have been named as the two deceased when their bodies were discovered Saturday afternoon in the 1000 block of East 130th St., northeast of South Haven and west of Geuda Springs.

The incident is being treated as a murder-suicide by authorities and both victims died of an apparent gunshot wound.

An investigation is continuing into the deaths of a man and woman whose bodies were found lying in the roadway of a rural area in Sumner County on Saturday afternoon.

Sumner County Deputies were dispatched to the 1000 block of East 130th Street for two subjects lying in the road, according to a statement released today by the Sumner County Sheriff’s Dept.

When the deputies arrived they discovered a male in his mid-30s and a female in her mid-20s with injuries to the head.

Medical personnel were dispatched to the scene and pronounced both subjects deceased.

An autopsy was ordered and the bodies were transported to the Forensic Center in Wichita. Investigation is continuing.

The rural location was west of Geuda Springs and east of the Kansas Turnpike.

Other agencies involved included the Benton Police Department and the Wellington Police Department.

The bodies were discovered by a man driving a pesticide spray rig in the area.
