Storms Tonight Could Bring Heavy Rains That Cause Flooding, Weather Service Says

Heavy rains, that could cause some flooding, are said to be the most significant threat that results from storms that could hit Cowley County and the surround tonight.

According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms that will develop over the Western Plains this afternoon will spread slowly east across the central third of Kansas tonight and overnight.

While some penny-sized hail and winds around 50 mph may both occur, the greatest threat by far is heavy rains that may cause flooding.

Cowley and Sumner counties are in an area expected to have about a 70 percent or higher chance for precipitation and thunderstorms.
