Two women were killed Wednesday morning in a two-truck accident east of Winfield on U.S. 160 near Cowley 1

Cowley County Sheriff deputies and Emergency Medical personnel responded to the scene at approximately 7:15 a.m. for a report of a head-on collision near 141st Road on U.S. 160.

According to a news release from the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday afternoon, the deceased are 64-year-old Geraldine Patrick of Shell Knob, Mo., and 58-year-old Patricia Blake of Dallas, Ga.

They were struck by a 1996 Chevrolet pickup driven by 22-year-old Timothy Call of Cedar Vale.

Call was traveling westbound when he crossed the center line and struck a 2004 Ford pickup driven by Patrick, who was traveling eastbound.

Blake was pronounced dead at the scene, while Patrick was flown to Wesley Medical Center where she later died from her injuries. Call was transported to William Newton Hospital.

Cowley County Sheriff David Falletti told KSOK-NewsCow Wednesday afternoon that blood was drawn from Call under the discretion of probable cause. Falletti said authorities had received a call just before the accident of a male in a truck driving erratically at the Bolack Corner near Burden.

The accident closed portions of the highway both directions for over an hour.
