Three Arrested At Winfield Walmart For Over $12K In Property Theft

Winfield police arrested three people for theft at the Winfield Walmart Wednesday.

Police say the value of the property seized is estimated around $12,600.

According to a news release from the WPD, police were notified of a possible theft of a cell phone from the Winfield Walmart at approximately 1:30 a.m. Officers were able to locate a vehicle and its occupants who were believed to be involved in the theft.

During the investigation officers located numerous cell phones and smart watches believed to have been stolen locally and possible from other states.

All three suspects are from Galveston, Texas.

Shaday Bernstine, 33, was charged with felony theft, felony possession of stolen property and criminal damage to property. Bernstine also had several warrants from Texas for theft along with a warrant from the FBI for grand larceny.

Kewarner Lewis, 19, and Waynesha Turner, 25, were charged with felon theft and felony possession of stolen property.

The investigation is ongoing and investigators are working with law enforcement agencies from other states to locate additional victims. All three suspects remain in the Cowley County Jail.
