Ark City Police Arrest 3 In Connection With Local Pawn Shop Burglary

Ark City police arrested three Wichita men early Thursday morning in connection with a burglary of a downtown Ark City business.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 2:50 a.m. Thursday for an alarm at Double Eagle Firearms and Pawn, located at 104 S. Summit St. in downtown Arkansas City. A male later identified as M.C. Weaver was seen climbing out of a window at the store and then down onto a trash can. After a short foot pursuit, he was arrested without further incident. A second male who climbed out of the window fled the area and currently is at large. He is described as 5-foot-10 with dreadlocks and a thin build. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants and lime green sneakers at the time of the incident.

While they were checking the area, officers found two more people who were acting suspiciously. They interviewed the two men — later identified as identified as Martiese Ories Mullins and Jaxson Connor Reynolds — as well as a female who had arrived to give the two men a ride.

Police learned the three individuals knew or otherwise were related to Weaver. The two Wichita men were brought in for questioning and later arrested.

Weaver, 29, was arrested  on suspicion of felony counts of burglary of a non-dwelling and interference with the judicial process, as well as misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and theft by deception. He was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail in Winfield in lieu of $7,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Arkansas City.

Weaver since has posted bond and been released from custody.

Mullins and Reynolds, both 19, were arrested on suspicion of felony burglary of a non-dwelling, as well as misdemeanor counts of criminal damage to property and theft of property totaling less than $1,000 in value.

Mullins and Reynolds were transported to and booked into the county jail in lieu of $5,000 bond each through the Ark City district court. Both men since have posted bond and been released from custody.
