Former U.S. Secretary Of Ag To Visit Cowley County Saturday

Former U.S. Congressman and Secretary of Agriculture Dan Glickman be in Winfield and Ark City Saturday.

Glickman served as Secretary of Agriculture from 1995 until 2001 under President Bill Clinton after he represented Kansas’ 4th District in Congress for 18 years. He is currently the Executive Director for the Aspen Institute Congressional Program, a nongovernmental, nonpartisan educational program for members of Congress. He also served as Chairman of the Motion Picture Association of America, Inc. from 2004 until 2010. Prior to joining the MPAA, he was the Director of the Institute of Politics at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government from 2002 to 2004.

Glickman, a Democrat, will be campaigning for U.S. House of Representative District 4 candidate James Thompson and State House Representative for District 79 Ed Trimmer.

At 12:30 p.m. he will attend a Meet & Greet Luncheon at The Farm at Quail Valley, 9315 194th Drive, in Winfield. The event is open to the public.

The event in Arkansas City will be held at the Burford Theatre, 112 S. Summit, at 2 p.m. Both Glickman and Thompson will be in attendance to answer questions and discuss trade and agriculture.
