UPDATE: Shooting Suspect Was Out On Bond On Other Charges

UPDATE – Sheriff Dave Falletti released this additional info: Friday, at approximately 9:40 a.m., deputies with the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of 22nd Road, north west of Rock.

Initial information indicated that a female, identified as Elizabeth Anderson, 32, had sustained a single gunshot wound to the leg and she was lying outside by the road.  

It was relayed to law enforcement that she had been shot by her husband, Marty Anderson and that Marty had two juvenile children, ages 15 and 12, in the residence with him and had threatened their safety.  

Elizabeth Anderson was transported by Eagle Med to Wesley Hospital in Wichita for treatment of her injuries.  
 
A perimeter was set up around the house and at approximately 11:15 a.m. the two female juveniles came out of the house and were removed from the area by law enforcement.  

Members of the South Central SWAT team then entered the house and arrested Marty Anderson without incident.  
 
Marty Anderson, 33, had previously been arrested and was on bond for allegations of Rape, Criminal Sodomy, Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a child and Contributing to a Child’s Misconduct.  
 
These cases are still under investigation and no bond has been determined for the current arrest.  Criminal charges are still pending.

ROCK — A woman was found shot outside a rural home and a man barricaded himself inside it early Friday afternoon.

Cowley County Sheriff David Falletti told KSOK-NewsCow the man, identified as Marty Anderson, was taken into custody by members of the South Central Kansas SWAT Team.

The woman was flown via air ambulance to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.

Falletti said she was immediately taken into surgery. Two of the man’s step-daughters were believed to be held hostage until Anderson had fallen asleep inside the home located in the 6000 block of 22nd Road near Rock.

They then escaped and were safe as soon as authorities arrived.

Falletti said the Kansas Highway Patrol and the Sumner County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
