Man Arrested During Incident In Rock Is Facing An Attempted Murder Charge

Marty Anderson Jr. remained in the Cowley County Jail Tuesday following his arrest on Friday at a home in Rock.

Anderson Jr., 33, faces multiple charges including attempted second degree murder. He his accused of shooting and injuring his wife, 32-year-old, Elizabeth Anderson.

Bond for Marty Anderson Jr. is set at $500,000.

Marty Anderson had previously been arrested and was on bond for allegations of Rape, Criminal Sodomy, Aggravated Indecent Liberties with a child and Contributing to a Child’s Misconduct.

On Friday, at approximately 9:40 a.m., deputies with the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the 6000 block of 22nd Road, north west of Rock.

Initial information indicated that a female Elizabeth Anderson, 32, had sustained a single gunshot wound to the leg and she was lying outside by the road.

It was relayed to law enforcement that she had been shot by her husband, Marty Anderson and that Marty had two juvenile children, ages 15 and 12, in the residence with him and had threatened their safety.

Elizabeth Anderson was transported by Eagle Med to Wesley Hospital in Wichita for treatment of her injuries. Authorities said she is continuing to recover and has stabilized.

A perimeter was set up around the house and at approximately 11:15 a.m. the two female juveniles came out of the house and were removed from the area by law enforcement.

Marty Anderson made an appearance in court Tuesday and is expected back in a Winfield courtroom again next week.
