Ernest McCoy

Ernest Michael “Mike” McCoy, 72, of Arkansas City, Kan., passed away Monday, June 10, 2019, at his residence.

Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Hope cemetery.
Mike was born on July 7, 1946 to Ernie and Marjorie (Campbell) McCoy in Vallejo, CA. After moving to Arkansas City, Mike attended Frances Willard Elementary and Graduated from Arkansas City High School in 1964. He continued his education at Cowley College. Mike worked various jobs and a favorite was press setter at the Kansas City Star. He also worked as a supervisor at Cessna and later joined his father at McCoy Engine Service where he took over and worked until his retirement. One of his greatest passions was being a member of the Ark City Tumbleweeds, where he served as President and Treasurer. Mike took great joy in helping with the “Last Run” Car Show and being a part of the community service they provided. He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion and Geuda Springs Racing Association.
Mike is survived by his wife, Gayla McCoy of the home; son, Michael McCoy and his Wife, Kathy of Arkansas City, daughter Michelle Weber of Blackwell, OK, son, Ryan Miller and wife, Regina of Gilbert, AZ, daughter, Lacy Catron and husband, Casey of Arkansas City; grandchildren, Braileigh, Kirsty, Ashley, Caitlynn, Brett, Morgan, Kailee, Christopher, Ryker, Brody, and Rylee; two great grandchildren, Remington and Christopher Michael; brother, Patrick McCoy of Arkansas City; sister, Anne Honeymann and husband, David of Ft. Smith, AR and sister, Debbie Alba of Sauhaurita, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his Parents and brother, Timothy McCoy.
