ACPD: Newkirk Man Arrested After Threatening Woman With A Knife

The Arkansas City Police Department arrested a Newkirk man early Friday morning on multiple charges after he allegedly threatened someone with a knife, according to a news release from the ACPD late Friday.

Jeremy Allen Cahoon, 26, of Newkirk, Oklahoma, was arrested on suspicion of one felony count each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and criminal threat, as well as one misdemeanor count of criminal damage to property.

Cahoon was transported to and booked into the Cowley County Jail on a $13,000 bond through Cowley County District Court in Ark City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers responded at 1:04 a.m. Friday for a report of a suspect in an apartment in the 1300 block of N. 13th Street who allegedly had threatened to kill a 24-year-old Ark City woman with a knife.

When they arrived, they learned the woman and her children had exited the apartment safely.

The victim reported the suspect, later identified as Cahoon, had threatened to kill her over a debt.

Officers obtained consent to search the apartment and found Cahoon hiding in the attic. After he damaged the roof and almost fell through, he exited the attic and was taken into custody without incident.
