Ark City Man Arrested On Suspicion Of Aggravated Domestic Battery

The Arkansas City Police Department arrested an Ark City man Tuesday on suspicion of battery and drug charges following a domestic disturbance.

According to a news release from the ACPD Tuesday afternoon, Robert Ladd Embrey, 47, was arrested on suspicion of aggravated battery, battery-domestic violence, criminal restraint, criminal threat, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Embrey was transported to the Cowley County Jail in Winfield on a bond of $50,000 through Cowley County District Court in Ark City. He remained in custody at the time of this release.

Officers were dispatched about 2:52 a.m. Tuesday to the 800 block of South A Street for a report of a disturbance resulting in injuries.

They contacted the alleged victim, a 47-year-old Ark City woman, who reported her husband struck her several times with his hands and also struck her in the head multiple times with a cordless drill.

As a result, the victim sustained significant injuries to her head and face.

She was transported by the Ark City Fire-EMS Department to SCK Medical Center for treatment of injuries.

The male suspect, identified as Embrey, allegedly fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival. He was located later Tuesday morning and taken into police custody without incident.

A search of the scene during the investigation turned up marijuana and other drug-related items.
