The Winfield Police Department’s annual Community Night Out event will play host to a showing of the 1985 film “The Goonies” at the Island Park Performance Venue, as well as a hot dog dinner this Friday evening.

According to a press release from the WPD, grilled hot dogs will be served at 6 p.m., with the movie starting shortly after sunset. The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Family appropriate costumes are encouraged, but please leave alcoholic beverages at home as they are not allowed at Community Night Out.

The evening will start off with a free grilled hot dog dinner with chips and a drink, courtesy of Sonic, Walmart, Coca Cola, and the Winfield Lions Club. Area emergency responders will be on hand to answer any questions from the public, as well as demonstrate the equipment they use to perform their duties.

To compliment the movie (provided by the Winfield Recreation Commission and KSOK Radio), those attending can enjoy authentic movie theater popcorn, provided by Cowley Cinema 8 and the Winfield Fire Department.

Goodie bags including take-home activity packs courtesy of the Winfield Arts and Humanities Council will be given out at the conclusion of the event (while supplies last). The bags will also be filled with items donated from event organizers, as well as prizes donated by area businesses.
