Man Hospitalized Following Shooting In Winfield; WPD Says Investigation Is Ongoing

Police are investigating a shooting in Winfield that sent a man to the hospital just after midnight Tuesday.

According to a news release from the Winfield Police Department Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Osage Street at 12:32 a.m. for a report of multiple gunshots.

Officers spoke with the reporting party as well as several neighbors who reported hearing gunshots in the area.

While investigating the report, officers were dispatched to the 3300 block of HH Constant Road — just nearby were officers were originally dispatched — for a gunshot victim. There, police contacted a 52-year-old victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim reported being shot while sitting outside a residence in a vehicle.

The victim was transported to William Newton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“This is an ongoing investigation,” the news release stated. “It is believed to be an isolated incident and there is no current threat to the public.”

The Winfield Police Department was assisted by the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office and the Cowley County Tracking Team.
