Bloedel Backs Out Of Agreement To Join SCK Health As General Surgeon

Dr. Patrick Bloedel has decided against plans to join SCK Health in Ark City as a general surgeon and will instead remain in private practice.

SCK Health CEO Jeff Bowman made the announcement Tuesday and confirmed he had received a letter from Bloedel requesting a reversal of a recently signed employment contract. The hospital had announced in June that Bloedel would join the staff as a general surgeon.

He was to make the transition from his private practice to hospital staff in August.

“Upon receiving feedback from patients and the community, I do not feel I would have the opportunity to continue to care for my patient base as I had hoped,” Bloedel said through a written statement released by the hospital.

Bloedel was born in Cowley County and has been maintaining a private practice locally for eight years.

Dr. Bloedel will remain in private practice with clinics at the Physicians Pavilion in Winfield and SCK Health Specialty Clinic.

We look forward to continuing our current working relationship with Dr. Bloedel and his patients. He is a great asset to the Cowley County area and we are fortunate he chooses to continue to practice here,” Bowman said.
