Local Businessman Plans To Renovate And Reopen Winfield Skating Rink

Winfield businessman Jacob McGuire – owner of Main St. Games – has plans to renovate and reopen the local skating rink on Main. The sale of the building closed this morning.

It will operate under the name Main Street Skate.

Some updates will be done to the building and the new owners plan to explore other opportunities and uses for the skating surface, when it’s not in use by skaters. It’s likely to be another month before McGuire has a good idea of when Main Street Skate will open.

The building at 515 Main last operated as a skating rink more than three years ago. McGuire and his fiancée, Sarah Berry, plan to operate the rink together. It’s previously operated under various names including, The Rink and Interskate 77.

The couple has set up a gofundme campaign to help fund some improvements. The building previously belonged to the Peacock family.

Earlier this year, McGuire’s Main Street Games LLC acquired Ark City-based McDonald’s Computer Service.
