Arkansas Shooting Investigation Leads To Arrest Of 3 Who Had Fled To Ark City

Three people accused of aiding a suspect in a fatal shooting in Arkansas were arrested last month after they had relocated to Ark City.

Daniel Zenon Chavez, 44, Rosa Reyes-Zendejas, 42, and Giovanny Zenon, 21, are facing charges of hindering apprehension or prosecution, a felony. The charges are a result of an investigation by the Rogers Police Dept.

All three suspects “fled the state and since re-established the family in Arkansas City, Kansas and have not cooperated with investigative proceedings,” according to court documents. They were arrested by ACPD on Aug. 17.

Ark City Police Chief Eric Burr said his department assisted the U.S. Marshal’s Office in serving arrest warrants. The arrests were made without incident.

On April 15, an arrest warrant was issued for a juvenile male for manslaughter, a class C felony, in relation to the shooting death of a 17-year-old female. Police believed the juvenile fled the area and law enforcement had been unable to locate him.

Arkansas media reports that the investigation has indicated that all three “conspired and orchestrated in concealing a juvenile male who shot and killed a juvenile female.”

The warrant for the arrests of Zenon, Reyes-Zendejas, and Zenon was issued around August 5, according to police.

All three were arrested in Arkansas City extradited to Arkansas last week.  They were held at the Benton County Detention Center and each has posted a $40,000 bond.
