Ark City FFA Does Well At Dairy Cattle And Milk Quality Contests In Winfield

Members of the Arkansas City FFA Chapter recently competed in the South Central District Dairy Cattle and Milk Quality & Products Contests Oct. 19 in Winfield.

The Milky Quality & Products CDE allows students to learn about the Dairy Foods industry. Students judge cheeses, milk-off flavors, milk fats, and complete exams about milk production and milk marketing.

The Dairy Cattle CDE allows students to learn about the Dairy Cattle industry. Students develop skills in dairy cattle selection and herd management. Those who competed in this contest evaluated the cattle’s physical characteristics and explained the various classes to a judge.

The Senior Milk Quality team placed 1st. 

Individually, Ivy Schwartz was 1st, Kelsie Bowers was 2nd, Kellen Hill was 3rd, and London Norris was 4th.

The Greehand team placed 3rd. Individually, Swea Gootee was 4th, Trey Noland was 6th, and Mykaylee Goff was 8th.

The Dairy Cattle evaluation team consisted of 19 Ark City FFA members. Individually, Hayleigh Bernd was 6th in the senior division, and Hannah Schadorf placed 5th in the Greehand division.
