Escaped Winfield inmate found east of Udall

UPDATE: Jimmy Reed was apprehended at 4:54 pm by KDOC Special Agents and the Cowley County Sheriff’s Department.

He was captured on K-15 east of Udall. Reed was booked into the Cowley County jail. Reed will be charged with Aggravated Escape from Custody.

Authorities are looking for an inmate that went missing from the Winfield Correctional Facility overnight.

Around 1:20 a.m., a head count determined that 29-year-old Jimmy R. Reed was no longer at the facility. He is described as a white male 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 188 pound. He was last seen with brown hair, hazel eyes and a brown beard.

Reed has convictions for domestic battery and aggravated sexual battery from Sedgwick County in November 2009, and was currently incarcerated for a parole violation. He has lifetime post-release supervision.

Local law enforcement are working with Department of Corrections special agents in the search for this offender.
