Karla McDermott has opened a life counseling and play therapy practice in Winfield and invites you to schedule an appointment today.

The office is located at 103 E. Ninth Ave. Suite 202.

McDermott is a Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist. She has worked with the adult population for more than 8 years and specializes in children ages 2 to 10.

She is also trained in the area of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, or EMDR.

McDermott received a Masterís Degree in Social Welfare from The University of Kansas in 2006 and a Bachelorís in Psychology from Missouri Valley College in 1999.

She provides therapy to individuals and families ages 2 and up.

Specialties include treating trauma, grief and loss, divorce, adjustment issues, mood disorders, anxiety, as well as abuse and neglect issues using a variety of treatment approaches including Play Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

McDermott is a member of the Association for Play Therapy and a member of the National Association of Social Workers.

All major insurances, including Medicare, are accepted. Her schedule can accommodate weekly appointments, if medically necessary.
