A 43-year-old Ark City man was killed Monday night in a single-vehicle rollover accident near Strother Field, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Around 9:50 p.m., emergency crews were called to 222nd Rd. just west of U.S. 77 highway.

Eliseo Cardoza was unresponsive and could not be resuscitated. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway patrol said Cardoza’s 2007 GMC Sierra pickup was westbound on 222nd Rd. when it left the roadway on the left side. Cardoza apparently overcorrected and rolled the truck into a field on the southside of the road.

Radio reports from the scene indicated Cardoza was ejected from the vehicle.

He was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the report.
