UPDATE: 7:40 a.m. Monday - Wichita Police late Sunday arrested an inmate that had escaped from the Cowley County Jail earlier in the day.
30-year-old Joshua Blackwill was taken into custody around 10:45 p.m. in the 400 block of N. Kansas in Wichita. He was arrested without incident, according to Cowley County Sheriff David Falletti.
Blackwill is originally from the Wichita area.
He was transported to the Cowley County Jail and booked on a charge of aggravated escape from custody. Falletti thanked Wichita Police and residents who responded to an alert issued in reference to the escape.
Blackwill escaped around 1:45 p.m. Details of that escape were not provided.
Local authorities issued an alert regarding his escape shortly after it occurred. Blackwill was a porter at the jail and thus had some additional responsibilities while incarcerated.
Cowley County authorities are looking for a jail inmate who escaped from custody this afternoon.

Blackwill is described as a white male with short brown hair and blue eyes. The escapee was last seen in the area of Eighth and Loomis in Winfield. He was running east on Eighth.
Blackwill was wearing a tan jumpsuit with “Porter” on the back. If located do not approach and immediately call 911.
Blackwell has multiple previous convictions for charges that include theft and criminal damage to property.
