UPDATE - Prison inmate back in custody

UPDATE: 6:35 a.m. Tuesday - Escaped inmate Jason W. Bell has been located and taken into custody.

Bell was found in an area several miles north of Winfield, according to radio traffic.

Tonight at 9:30 Jason W. Bell was declared an escapee from the Winfield Correctional Facility. Bell has been at Winfield Correctional Facility since August of 2016, according to corrections officials.

Bell reportedly missed headcount at the prison tonight.

Bell is a white male, 5í7, 186 lbs. and brown hair. He is 44 years old and was currently serving time at Winfield Correctional Facility as a Parole Violator from Sedgwick County, Kansas. Bellís most recent criminal conviction was in 2012 for Failure to Register.

He has convictions from 2001 for aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and attempted 2nd-degree murder.
