Two people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a motor-vehicle accident that occurred just south of Winfield.
Around 3 p.m., emergency crews were called to the intersection of U.S. 77 highway and Quail Ridge Road for the report of a two-vehicle, injury accident.
A white 2004 GMC Yukon, driven by 39-year-old Belinda Willmoth pulled onto the highway from the side street and collided with a 1995 Ford Escort driven by Lane Burr, 19, of Ark City. Burr was driving northbound at the time of the crash.
Burr was transported to William Newton Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Burr vehicle, 19-year-old Hailey Holmes of Winfield, was taken to the same hospital for treatment.
Holmes injuries were also said to be non-life-threatening.
A child in the Burr vehicle was not hurt.
Willmoth and four minors in her vehicle were also uninjured.
Willmoth was issued a traffic citation for failure to yield the right of way.
