March 13-14

Dog complaint in the 21000 block of Hoover

Report taken in reference to stolen fuel from a vehicle in the 7000 block of 252nd Drive

Possible Burglary in the 19000 block of 151st Road

Deputies contacted two juveniles who allegedly placed a metal sign on the train tracks, by the Hackney grain elevators, where a train ran over the sign.

Car versus deer motor vehicle accident in the 22000 block of Grouse Creek Road

Check welfare in the 31000 block of 53rd Road

March 16-17

Missing or stolen black Angus calf reported in the 13000 block of 196th Road

Deputies checked on a suspicious vehicle in the 9000 block of 85th Court

A 2002, black Jeep Wrangler, driven by 17 year-old Jacey Schmidt, of Mulvane, was driving south in the 6000 block of 11th Road.  The driver lost control of the vehicle and the vehicle rolled, landing on the passenger side.  Schmidt was the only occupant in the vehicle and was transported to a Wichita hospital; the vehicle was towed from the scene.

Traffic stop in the 1600 block of South Summit.  Driver was arrested for Driving While Under the Influence and transported to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office Jail.

March 17-18

Car Versus deer motor vehicle accident in the 21000 block of 181st Road

Damaged property in the 6000 block of Lindberg Avenue.  Determined to be an accident and a civil matter.

Car versus deer motor vehicle accident in the 4000 block of 202nd Road

Vehicle stuck on the railroad tracks in the 1600 block of Weile Street.  Vehicle was removed and the tracks were inspected for damage

Unattended death in the 16000 block of 161st Road

Loud music complaint in the 31000 block of 55th Place

Arrest made for driving on a suspended driver’s license in the 200 block of W. 10th Avenue in Winfield.

Animal complaint in the 7000 block of 252nd Drive

March 20-21

Report of a vehicle on the side of the road with smoke coming from under the hood near 21st Road on US 160

Injury accident at US 160 and 21st Road.  Sheila Rutherford, 72 years old of Winfield, driving a silver 2007, Ford passenger vehicle was stopped on 21st road, facing south, at a stop sign.  Rutherford turned east onto Highway 160 and was struck by a blue 2009, Honda Motorcycle, driven by Blake Simmons, 71 years old of Derby.  Simmons struck the rear left of Rutherford’s vehicle.  Simmons was transported to Wesley Hospital, in Wichita, for his injuries.  Rutherford was citied for failure to yield the right of way.

Deputy assisted with traffic control, due to smoke, at a grass fire in the area of 31st Road and US 160

Deputy assisted with machinery on fire in the 3000 block of 42nd Road

Damaged property in the 10000 block of 91st Road

Car versus deer motor vehicle accident reported in the 7000 block of 182nd Road

Arrest for driving on a suspended driver’s license in the 2000 block of US 77
