April 3

A white 2005, Nissan Altima, driven by Raul Gomez Jr., 20 years old of Arkansas City, Kansas was driving north on 61st Road in the 23000 block. Raul drove through moving water across the road and the vehicle was swept into the ditch. The ditch was partially full of water. Raul was the only occupant of the vehicle and was uninjured.

April 4

Car versus deer motor vehicle accident in the area of 132nd and 101st Road

During the afternoon of April 4, 2017, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to several incidents caused by the storm that came through Cowley County. There were at least two calls for power lines falling across roads and several cars that slid off of the road, with little to no damage.

April 6

Burglary report taken in the 31000 block of 53rd Road

Theft and criminal damage to property reported in the 5000 block of 274th Drive

Disturbance in the 28000 block of 71st Road

Cowley County Sheriff’s Deputies assisted the Segwick County Sheriff’s Office with a suspicious vehicle. Investigators and Deputies continued to assist Sedgwick County in reference to a person of interest wanted for questioning.

Traffic control assistance in the 16000 block of US 166 due to a grass fire

Verbal Disturbance in the 31000 block of 53rd Road

April 7

Night Porter at the Cowley County Jail attempted to escape while cleaning a common area. The inmate, April Adams, was immediately caught and returned to the facility. April 7

Deputy assisted the Winfield Police Department with a subject at 1214 Main Street

Individual arrested for driving on a suspended driver’s license in the area of 202nd and US 77

Warrant arrest made in the 1000 block of Stewart Street

April 8

Car versus deer motor vehicle accident in the 1000 block of K15

Report of a dog bite that occurred in Burden

Theft report in the 10000 block of 281st Road

April 9

A silver 2010, Chevrolet Truck, driven by Jebediah Carroll, 24 years old of Arkansas City, was driving east bound on 292nd Road, in the 10000 block, when it struck a guard rail and went off of the roadway to the north, ending up in a group of trees. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

A white 2007, Ford Exhibition, driven by Sidney Regnier, 77 years old of Arkansas City, was driving south on 31st Road in the 31000 block. Regnier turned east, into a driveway, and failed to yield the right of way to a red 1998, Ford Escort, driven by Taylor Smith, 19 years old of Arkansas City. Regnier was issued a citation for failure to yield the right of way. No injuries were reported and the Ford Escort was towed from the scene.
