Winfield Police Friday afternoon arrested a man who is said to have left the scene after striking a pedestrian near the fairgrounds.
Around 5:20 p.m., officers responded to the report of a hit and run accident on 14th Ave. near the entrance to the fairgrounds. A pedestrian reported being struck by a truck.
Police arrived and found the driver of the truck had left. The pedestrian though, was able to provide investigators with information about the vehicle.
Officers eventually located the truck at another location in Winfield and placed the driver, Shawn Henning, of Winfield, under arrest for failure to report an injury accident and no proof of insurance.
The pedestrian was said to have sustained an ankle injury.
