UPDATE 11 a.m. Monday - Francisco Lopez-Campos, 33, is being held in the Cowley County Jail on counts of kidnapping and aggravated assault. His bond is set at $100,000.
Lopez-Campos was booked into jail Sunday following a search for missing three-year-old, Anthony Lopez Hernandez of Ark City. Lopez-Campos and the boy were found near Cowley County State Fishing Lake hours after Lopez-Campos is said to have forcefully abducted the child.
Lopez-Campos is Anthony Hernandez's father.
UPDATE: 5 15 p.m. - Anthony Lopez Hernandez was found safe Sunday afternoon. He was not harmed.
His father has been taken into custody. The two were found together just before 5 p.m. in the area of the Cowley County State Fishing Lake.
The car they were in had been recovered near the lake much earlier in the day.
An Amber Alert has been issued for a young boy said to have been abducted in Ark City late Saturday.
Anthony Lopez Hernandez, 3, was taken around 11:30 p.m. following an altercation during a supervised visit with his father, Francisco Lopez-Campos. The suspect vehicle was eventually located but had been abandoned.
The boy was last seen in the 600 block of S. Sixth St.
He was last seen wearing a yellow tank top, black shorts with yellow stripes, and yellow Spongebob Square pants crocks.
Trackers, a K-9 unit and law enforcement officers are currently searching for the suspect and child. Local highways also are being monitored.
Lopez-Campos is a suspected gang member from Yonkers, N.Y. and has taken the child there previously.
The child is said to be two feet, five inches tall, 38 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes. The suspect, Lopez-Campos, is said to be five feet, five inches tall, 200 pounds and bald.
Law enforcement officials are asking the public to call 1-800-KSCRIME (1-800-572-7463) if they have any information regarding the abduction and, or if someone sees individuals matching these descriptions. The suspect is potentially armed, considered dangerous and should not be confronted.
