Four people were arrested on drug charges and a room at an Ark City motel was searched as part of an investigation that began with a traffic stop Tuesday, according to a statement from police.
It began when an officer pulled a woman over in the 100 block of North A after it was determined she had an active warrant through municipal court in Ark City. Kassie S. McBride, the driver, was taken into custody on failure to appear warrants and for driving with a suspended license.
The traffic stop led to a search by the departmentís K-9 officer, Lee, and police said drugs were found in the console. McBride and a passenger, Christopher A. Butt, were taken into custody for possession of meth, pot and drug paraphernalia.
Information obtained through the traffic stop led authorities to Americaís Best Value Inn. Police made contact with Ramon P. Martinez, who was subsequently arrested on an active warrant through municipal court.
A woman in the room was questioned and denied consent for officers to search the motel room.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the room and found additional drug items when the warrant was executed. Martinez and Karli D. McBride were taken into custody as a result of the evidence found, police said.
They face charges for possession of meth with intent to sale within 1000 feet of a school, possession of drug use paraphernalia, possession of drug sales paraphernalia, no drug tax stamp, and use of a communication device to arrange a drug sale.
All suspects were transported to the Cowley County Jail.
UPDATE: 9:40 a.m. Wednesday - All supsects remained in jail as of Wednesday morning, according to jail records.
Karli McBride has bond set at $14,500 and Kassie McBride has bond set at $14,000. Ramon Martinez has a bond of $27,000. Bond for Butt is set at $7,000.
