Winfield police investigators want to know who it was that fired a bullet that traveled through the bedroom of a local residence and landed in a laundry room. No one was injured in the incident.

Early Tuesday, just before 5 a.m., authorities were called to the 400 block of N. Park Place in response to a report of someone firing a gun and a bullet going through a window. The address is the location of apartments operated by the Winfield Housing Authority.

Officers arrived and eventually determined that a shot was fired from about 50 to 75 feet away. What appeared to be a large-caliber round was recovered from inside a residence.

Investigators traced the bulletís trajectory to a tree where the shooter is believed to have stood while firing the shot. Cowley Countyís tracking team was called to exam the trail.

So far no arrests have been in connection with the incident.
