A rural Winfield man has been found safe and sound after disappearing during an ATV ride yesterday afternoon.
Cowley County authorities searched for the rider for a few hours late Monday after family called around 9:30 p.m. to report he had not come home from a ride. There were concerns he might have had an accident or health issue.

The county sheriff’s department sought the help of local trackers - and a helicopter from Sedgwick County - to search an area northwest of Winfield.
Around 1 a.m., the man, who authorities did not identify by name, showed up along some railroad tracks about a mile from where the search was conducted.
His ATV had encountered mechanical issues near Douglass and he had decided to make the long walk home.
