A Cowley County teen was critically injured Saturday evening in a wreck on K-15 highway just south of Mulvane in Sumner County.

Friends identified the man as Robert Douglas, 19, who lived in the Udall area and worked in Winfield. Douglas remained in critical condition late Sunday at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The accident occurred around 5:15 p.m. near the intersection of K-15 and Greenwich Rd. not far from the Cowley/Sumner County line.

Douglasís red Honda Civic left the roadway, entered the east ditch and struck a tree.

KAKE News reports that Douglas had attempted to pass another vehicle on the right shoulder, lost control and crashed. He was reportedly outside the vehicle when emergency crews arrived.

Sumner County investigators said additional information would be available Monday morning.
