A person was killed Monday afternoon when the vehicle they were in collided with a train northeast of Wellington.
At approximately 2:15 p.m. emergency crews were called to the accident scene near the intersection of 40th Ave. North and Seneca. A person in the motor vehicle had been ejected and was dead at the scene.
Fire crews then examined the area and determined there were chemicals in and around the vehicle that could be harmful if inhaled.
Wellington hazardous materials technicians retrieved containers from the scene with both unidentified and known chemicals for testing and disposal.
Technicians were used to contain a diesel leak in a tow truck that punctured a diesel tank while attempting to remove the vehicle from the railroad track area.
So far the name of the victim has not been released to the public.
